Starting problems!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone
OK. Basically, when I start my car from cold it starts fine. when it is warmed up it idols good but when I rev it, when the revs come down it almost cuts out. When I start the car when it's warm, it won't start unless I give it some gas aswell. Whats the problem?

Re: Starting problems!!!!!!!!!!!
if thats the case do a self dignostic
in the fuse panel under the dash there is an empty slot
at the top and sticking out a bit
put a fuse in and turn on the ignition
the engine light will come on then start flashing
flash----flash flash means everything ok if not then count the flashes
gary

I'll probably do that but does anyone know what the actual problem could be. And what am I counting the flashes for?
Also what size fuse do I use

What code? At the moment the light is flashing without me doing anything to the fuse box. Does the current rate of flashing mean anything?

Re: Starting problems!!!!!!!!!!!
To get the code:
1. switch the engine off
2. get a spare fuse and insert in the spare slot in the fuse box (bottom i think)
3. think its gotta be in neutral (gear).
4. switch ignition on and count the sequence of flashs
for example:
flash pause flash flash is 12 which is normal
there is a list i have on a print out sumwhere, it mite also b in the workshop manual.
if its any different to 12 post bk and ill try and find the sheet and the code 4 u.

Re: Starting problems!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks alot everyone
Just checked it this weekend. Basically the previous owner left the fuse in. It was flashing on code 12 which is fine. When I took the fuse out the problem went away and the light stopped flashing. Not bad for 2 minutes of work!

Re: Starting problems!!!!!!!!!!!
i doubt just leaving the fuse in the diag slot would stop the car from running, but you never know
didnt you think something was up when you bought the car with the engine light always on?

Re: Starting problems!!!!!!!!!!!
I was'nt too bothered about the condition of the car when I bought it because I've fully stripped it down and rebuilt the gearbox and engine. I first thought it might be something to do with the O2 sensor as I blanked it out on the 4 branch and I used a phase 1 chipped ecu. But I do find it weird that the problem went away when I just pulled the switch out. I have'nt test driven it yet. Just got to put the oil cooler on and get it sprayed.
