Few problems after conversion
Got to drive my swift today after the conversion. Now it has a g13b gti engine and gearbox/brakes
When i put it into second at even low revs and release the clutch - gear jumps out.
It stays there if i hold it but as soon as i come of the accelerator it jumps out again.
Now i got two possible reasons: funked gearbox or clutch cable is too short? I used original one from 1.0 but obviously a bit shorter than a gti one.
Also when in fifth the car does 55 at 3k revs?

i would have thought you would be doing more like 70 at 3k revs :S, thats what my GLS does anyway, as for your gear jumping issue i would hazard a guess at a worn detent plunger/spring, not 100% sure on the workings of a GTi box but ive tinkered with several bikes with that issue

55 @ 3k sounds right for a GTi gearbox. Pull gbox out and replace 1st and 2nd with the ones from your G10 box.

Nik,
You can do what AF34S said or come and pick up low milage(30k from Japan) mk2 Gti gearbox from me. It will be an expensive one(£200)! I think your gearbox need a rebuild.
I have a Gti clutch cable as well. If you want, I can fit mk1 Gti diff(cross pins) into it as well. So it will be stronger diff then your mk2 one!
Good luck!
Cheers
