Re: Turbo
Dont muck around!!! Go for the TD04L IHI Turbo from the WRX.
These have proven results!!! awesome for low boost setups and are ok for 200BHP+ (wheels).
You can get them for 50-90pounds well worth the money.

Re: Turbo
for low boost you dont need injectors or an ecu andy/garndi does a chip for the stock ecu that will run fine 10-11psi on stock injectors youll make about 150whp on stock internals for more power a ecu and injectors are needed plus lots more when your ready to start buying stuff pm me or him or start a thread

Re: Turbo
In reagards to the turbo manifold you can use a manifold from another 4 cylinder turbo and get a custom conversion plate made by ferriday engineering. Good for a budget build

Re: Turbo
Hi,
You can get frange laser cut for £40 with 10mm steel plate.
Buy weldin bends for £65.
If you can weld, you can make log type one for less than £150.
I'm making one for myself and I have all the parts.
I have been talking to DMWDave so I know what I need to do.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
It is my local laser cut place.
They will cut from 8mm Stainless steel for that price.
If you want some, let me know. I made one for Dominator before.
Cheers

Re: Turbo
Hi Steve,
Yeah, no space what so ever!
You can see from this photo here.
I got TD04 and hoping to make one log style manifold to fit may be above gearbox.
I got an engine block ready for forced setup with Vitara pistons, o-ringed at Jerry's house.
What port size do you want with it 35mm or bigger?
If you want in mild steel, let me know. I got 1 spare.. oh I got 1 stainless spare also.
Cheers

Re: Turbo
Hi Steve,
I do all of my CAD work myself and get it laser cut.
I have down pipe flange already but I made it too big so I might have to re-draw it again.
I'm not sure where to fit my turbo yet so I will make sealed log complete then I cut where I want to fit by cutting and welding a flange to it to the manifold.
I will check what bore I got as I made bore bigger to fit tube into it before.
Cheers

Re: Turbo
Hi,
It is about 6mm thickness tube for a turbo manifold.
You have to remember any thinner than that, you will be getting cracks.
This is pm from DMWDave when I contacted him before!
Hi,
I have seen a log style manifold mounting turbo over gearbox,
I normally follow rule of thumb using whatever size exhaust port is for the tubeing size. But with a log style as each cylinder runner joins the main pipe it should step up in diameter,so you may start with a 11/4" at the water pump end but end up with a 13/4" at the turbo flange end,if if you dont step up then all your exhaust gas has to escape through a 11/4" pipe !!which may be restrictive.Step up from cylinder 3 to 11/2" then cyl 4 13/4",1&2 being 11/4".
If you make the manifold out of that thin wall exhaust tubeing it will crack,go to a a thickwall(4mm)either in mild steel or better still stainless, most places call them weldels,a good metal fabrication supplier will have them, they are 90 degree preformed bends available in 1/4" step up sizes.
This is the site you can buy it from .

Std wt will be fine for mild steel.
I haven't tried to make one with Stainless steel type.
Cheers

Re: Turbo
wow a great site atchi just for anyone who is going to ask look below this is why i dident go ahaed witht the manifolds i couldent find the bends cheap enought it was like £12 and £14 a bend which when you think about 5 or 6 depending on design plus laser cutting plus time soon amounts up
11/4" diameter of pipe
sch 10 gauge of pipe
90 degrees the bend
cheers steve
