Not running Empty Not running

Ive got a j reg swift shell i brought with no engine. I have now fitted the engine and wen you go to start it it runs for a few seconds then the live cuts out to the injectors and the engine stops running. The rev counter doesnt work either.
Any ideas on what this could be?

Altanator ?? i no when my altanator had gone the rev counter didnt work properly and used to cut out run a multi metre across see what ur getting should be about 14v

Alternator wouldnt cut the injectors of though would it.

do you loose spark as well? What code comes up think you said ECT code?

Code 14 comes up but only after its started and cut out.

check out if you have any disconnected ground wire. i had a similar problem when i did the conversion from SOHC to DOHC GTi.

Ive tried disconecting the alternator. No diferance and all the ground wires are there. I have even changed the loom now still not working.

Someone please help all i want is it running now.

you can check water temperature sensor, the code 14 diagnosis is water temperature sensor, check the wiyer connect or disconect,

have a look at the maf sensor aswell
that happened when i fitted my new engine, it turned out that one of the wires had come loose in the coupling

coolent temp sensor is part of the group that control the injectors without it in theory it would not run or not run properly if it was reading too high it would run lean if too low a tempriture the car would run rich however if it is not working atall the ecu may go into cut off aka limp mode
