Painting wheels - Advice?
Im thinking of painting a set of wheels and want to do a decent job that wont flake off in a few months
Can any of you chaps who have done this before give me some general advice and more specificly what kind of laqour/topcoat to use? Is there any stuff which is extra tough designed for wheels?
Thanks chaps.

Yeah i would get em powder coated mate but the only prob is they have a polished lip and i want to keep that!
I spoke to the powder coaters and they said the only way to do that was to coat the whole wheel and then polish the lip back, and that it was too hard and that they wouldnt do it! When pushed for a price if they did they said about £130 a wheel
Thanks foa the advice mate, looks like im gonna have to get my hands dirty

I got mine powder coated then took them to a mag wheel specialist. He put them in a lathe and restored the polished lip better then ever. Cost NZ$80!!

Re: Painting wheels - Advice?
Hi,
I had my wheels powder coated then diamond cut to look like polished but it was better.
I think firm did it for me was Pristine alloys. It costed me £45 a wheel but there were no one with same wheels so it was well worth it. Oh it was for 10" alloys so it is cheaper. If yours is 14" or 15", I think it will be more like £60/wheel.
I just checked web site in google for you.
http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/
try them. you might get free carriage!
I did actually shot blasted my own alloy and etch primed then painted with gun metal colour. Then clear spray.
Here goes.
This cost me £5 /wheel
Then, Gun metal spray followed by clear.
£7/can which did 2 wheels.
Yokohama semi slick tyre fitted with N2 gas instead of normal air!
So it cost me total of £54 to get my wheels looks OK again. Above price is all mate price, by the way.
This include £20 for fitting tyres with N2 gas fill by ATS station.
Cheers
