Bit of advice or recommendations

Going to be painting my engine bay white soon so I'm wondering if any of you have done this before ?

Been told to use stone guard aerosol

Unsure to use this or hammerite smooth or hammerite hammered aerosol

Don't want to use brush on paint so will be masking everything off and spraying

I know some say direct to body but want to do it as best as possible so would using any kind of primer help either or lacquer

Any help will be appreciated ???
