The 4 things on top are for vacuum
The fuel goes in the big metal tube on the bottom front, the black things on top need vacumm aswell as dizzy and brakes
There is no return fuel line so block off your return and fit a low pressure regulator on the inlet, only needs to be a few psi
All the oe.rubbers are on the mani inc the trumpets, but you will need an air box fitted or at least some filters designed for the carbs
Theres some good threads in the carb section of teamswift

Hi,

I took some photos so hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to tell you to do.
So about 5mm spacer mod... I think yours is already done by Gary. To get equal spacing between cylinders, you will need to weld plate in to space it out. Photo below will show you the gap.
carbs - Page 2 IMG00450-20111202-0844

This photo will show you an air box, mounting plate with rubber on an Ali plate.

Close up of mounting plate with rubber adaptor fitted.

carbs - Page 2 IMG00452-20111202-0844

Std rubber trumpets.

carbs - Page 2 IMG00453-20111202-0845

Not so good angle(52 degrees) but I hope it will do!

carbs - Page 2 IMG00454-20111202-0845

You will need to add an air filter, an air box and a mounting plate and rubber adaptor thingy for your setup!

Cheers

Hi,

Following is how my cylinder head has been modified.
carbs - Page 2 Image

You can see the side of head has been milled off and TIG welded.
Then individual inlet has been made.

carbs - Page 2 Image

So I did need to do anything to injection holes.
You will need to make plugs to block your holes and may be use silicon to fill it.
White plug you see is connection for mk1 Dizzy. I have fitted wiring as yet!

Cheers

The white plug just happens to be hangin like that Laughing
You will have to plug it up, some sort of bung, rubber, cork that sort of thing, or you could just use some suitable mastic
I didnt split the carbs, I made the mani to suit, it wasnt that far out

you will need something that is resistand to petrol otherwise it will dissolve and probably glue your valves together or something.
The right thing to do will be to have some bungs machined up out of brass, copper or aluminium or similar and bonded in with loctite or similar. make sure they can be removed without damage otherwise when you decide to remove the carbs for efi you'll have to replace the head.

could i just leave my injectors and fuel rail on and just plug it up. also would i get rid of the ecu and if i do what would determine where the limiter is? and if i leave it in is there n e point in having the chip fitted?

Hi,

I don't know what else is controlled by ECU in mk2 Gti onwards.
If you have mk1 Gti dizzy, as long as fuel pump is working with correct fuel pressure(3-4psi) your car will be fine.
Mk1 Gti ECU controls fuel pump, injection timing and rev limit. So without ECU, your right foot is limiter for your revs.

Ask machinist nicely, and they should be able to make you bung then Loctite in. I would use JB weld but this will be more permanent than Loctite.

Cheers

leave the ecu in as it cuts the fuel pump incase of an accident
hook up a rev limiter to the coil if your worryed, iv no doubt your cams will run out of puff way before the 8600 limit if they are fast road, but you never know what will happen

It cuts the spark instead of cutting the fuel to make a limit
Just a simple way of doing it
