misfire??? running ruff? Empty misfire??? running ruff?

Post  robinsonj1 21/09/11, 05:36 pm

decided to see if i did a bit of maitenance on the car to see if it wud run better

sprayed a bit of maintenace spary( cheap wd40) inside the throttle body and cleaned it and cleaned just inside of it and also sprayed it in the PCV valve which has the little pipe going into the rocker cover

and it seemed to tickover great at first then when i started drivin it it started hesitating, check engine light flicked on n off once or twice and now it sounds like its misfiring like mad and stil hesitating but sometimes runs fine and then does the above again,

have i wrecked my car ? lol

where did you get the wd40 idea from? Shocked
was the engine running?
its more than likely youv covered your plugs in it but, but that should`v burned off by now, could`v messed around with the pcv, its a 1way valve and i think the engine gets a bit funny if its blocked, it also sounds like tps alignment, timing or bunged up fuel filter
so basicly it could be anything

shouldnt be running rough from cold with no cold valve, just a low idle
thats what mine was like till i refitted the valve the other day
like it says on the other thread, put the valve in a bowl of boiled water, use a pair of pliars, you should see it close almost instantly, if not shes fcuked
and try not to start driving it before the temp gauge is up, i know its a pain to wait and rush hour in the morning is a c*nt so you need all the time you can get but its the only way to look after an engine

I disagree on letting it warm up, especially with the cold air valve, while warming up the ecu will pour more fuel into the engine, with no load this will wash the bores and lead to premature wear. I suggest driving straight away but be gentle no rapid acceleration just smooth use of the engine, warms up quicker to and gets the gearbox etc up to temp at the same time.

Cheers

Im not talkin about waitin 20mins for water and oil to be at opt temp Razz , just untill the revs die down
All down to personal preference I guess, but the owners manual does say not to start driving until the water gauge is atleast at cold possition
