with the right tools a stand and some experience its quite easy
if your looking to do a rebuild then defo get the factory manual
you can get it in paperback which is very rare and expencive or you can get a cd rom of it on ebay, bout a fiver, or theres a site somewhere that hosts it online to download
it tells you everything you need to know
even my gran could do it using that manual, its that good

like dominator said, manual helps a lot, it sure did countless times for me, spliting is easy, if you took the manifolds off, it's 12 8mm bolts for the cam cover and 10 8mm alan bolts for the head itself, puting it back is a bit trickyer Laughing
