Re: my GTi
DONE!!! but those damn gremlins did it again.... doesn't start, something's wrong with the wiring, i think with the starter circuit, engine doesn't crank, and the rpm needle rises and stays at 3k if i keep the key in start possition, will take a manual to the garage tommorow, check if i missed something, if not, will check all the harnesses

Re: my GTi
like i thought, i got a too big oil feed for the turbo, so it doesn't build up preassure at low rpm, ordered a restrictor, to that will be fixed
but then got terrible ratling noises for some reason, this happened:
i got no idea why, but the cranshaft is ruined now, because of the vibration or whatever, the cam gear on the other side of the crank is noww loose, it bent the metal bit that holds it in place, the gear itself is loosened and the crank itself is loosened, so the gear now easily turns to both sides...
anyone wants some of my parts??? =DD

Re: my GTi
no, not going to give up until i finidh it, or it kills me
anyways put the other block i had in, started today, it doesn't seem to idle for some reason, the rpm's are jumpy if i try to accelerate, i can't adjust ignition or tps because it keeps cutting off, ecu only shows to much fuel, 2 short and 2 short and i ran out of fuel, so will come back there tommorow,
btw i took away all the turbo bits, and just trying to make it run

Re: my GTi
ok so it runs, but the revs are jumpy, doesn't stall though and oil pressure light is on, unless it's running 1200+ rpms... those damn gremlins again =[

Re: my GTi
too hot to work in this weather...
being an idiot, i only today figured it out why it doesn't idle... compensators, they're all soft, i can easily press them under the camshafts, now i just need to figure it out why the oil pressure is low...

Re: my GTi
found the reason for the low oil pressure, the relief valve in the oil pump is stuck half open for some reason, just need to wait till the oil pan gasket arrives and i'm good to go i hope =]

ok, so another problem, ignition timing is jumping around, about +/- 5 degrees, any ideas what to check?

Re: my GTi
i thought it's about time for an update for this little disaster i call a swift
had the turbo setup running and had about 30 minutes of fun but then this happened
but it was more than enough to convince me that i'm going to get it done, i was expecting it too be faster but not by this much, i was actually scared too floor it
so after the brake down i converted the car back to NA, but i still had the jumpy idle and overheating, so i got myself a compression test kit, and i got about 50 psi on each cylinder, which is about 1/3 of what it's supposed to be, took the head of and took it to check the valves, i didn't think that it could be the block, because i didn't do anything to it and it was running fine, but then i noticed this
i didn't measure it, but by the way it felt, each cylinder was worn by about 0.5 - 1mm and this was the engine i bought here that had 70k on it...
i think this explains low compression, overheating, and black sludge in oil after about 1 hour of running, must have been fumes mixing with the oil...
i got a nice block from steve, got the head ready, the compensators soaking in petrol atm
since my old engine had about 750k km on it, according to the last log book entry which was almost 4 years ago... i got another crankshaft because i thought mine would definitely be worn and would require grinding, so i got one that came from an engine with about 65k miles on it and here how it looks
and here's mine with 750k+ km
so i'm going with mine. Also got some other bits cleaned
lets hope i'll get it right this time
btw this is how my civic shocks ended up
oh and steve this is how my exaust goes, don't really see a difference if the turbo goes the other way around

Re: my GTi
i think they bended because the civic ones are thinner by about 5 mm and because the stock top mount doesn't allow much movement because they were facing quite a bit bigger angle because of their length, but i think i won't have this problem with the ohlin's. from left to right:
civic, swift, ohlin's for swift
civic, swift, ohlin's for swift

Re: my GTi
gaskets, oil rings, new brake booster, hand brake cables, few bits for an alternator, bearings and so on... some bits are located in europe, so you also save on the shipping, they ship really fast, i usually get the item in a week or faster, the quality is really good, well atleast i have no complains about what i bought, plus i got a 5% discount if you're going to buy anything, and i'd suggest using UPS option for postage from US, it's a bit more expensive, but you don't have to pay custom taxes and handling fees which are more expensive
