my GTi
Thought i'll show my swift, i combines stock swift shocks with honda civic ones and adjustable springs from ebay, the ride is really good right now and it looks nice too

Re: my GTi
i've got the midwing from Iain in scotland, traded it for a mk2 phase 1 front splitter, he said he got it from his mate who worked at suzuki dealership, apparently you could buy it as an optional part, i also got a rollcage and a high ratio steering knuckle from him, had to drive 800 miles in one day though london - airdrie - london, left at 2 am got back at 6 pm. i got the wheels from my mate's friend who's in to drifting and he got them of a limited edition ae86 that he imported from japan, he said only 500 of those were made and came with those wheels as stock. the wheels are 14x6,5 and 14x7 not sure about the et but it's something about +10 so they stick a little on a swift

Re: my GTi
basically it's swift's shocks cut in half and used only for the mounting points, i used 4 gen civic shocks as inserts, they're a lot shorter and harder than swift ones, A LOT harder, and adjustable springs off ebay, total cost of this setup is 30 pounds for civic shocks and springs and 30 for one swift shock, the mounting holes on the front one i had were damaged, this is the rear
as you can see i still have a lot of room to go lower, the shock still has plenty room to move if i lowered the tube by 3/4, but then the exaust gets in the way and too much camber, not talking about the arches, which will be cut off and i'll put overfenders.
i don't know how good konis are, but my suspension is a huge improvement over stock

Re: my GTi
Hi Gedis. The wheels look fantastic mate.
I've seen this car in the metal and its the lowest swift i've ever seen. Had diffrent wheels then though. The new ones are a million times better.
How did you get on with that engine transplant by the way?
Can

the transplant took me about 20 hours on the street to do, runs just fine, though it still needs little adjustment

Re: my GTi
a diy one just an extended stock one, made a copy of the spoiler, cut off the end and then attached it to the midlle of the gti one at an angle and that's it

Re: my GTi
the coilovers didn't work out, the civic one are to thin, i ended up bending the rear ones, i had an idea of getting top ball mounts for all of them, so that they would have more freedom, cause the bottom moves alot, and the top is almost stationary...
yuo steve did it myself, i made a glass fiber copy of the original one, did some chopping ang put them together

Re: my GTi
thought an update should be in order, got loads of parts coming in, an engine rebuild is planned, oh going turbo btw, a pretty good suspension upgrade, some bits from strider too, and i don't think i'll drive out of the garage until i finish the exterior the way i want, so will be stationary for a couple more months... all because someone cut my brake lines... kinda nice that the swift has 2 brake fluid sections, so i still had some brakes left kinda glad the swift master cylinder is sort of dual

Re: my GTi
Got my suspension today!!!
adjustable, 25mm shorter than stock Ohlins, made in Japan. Adjustable from kind of hard, to my weight is barely enought to compress them i think the worries of bending the shocks are also over, cost me a bloody fortune though
