Gearbox

took off my gearbox last week and instantly spotted this little gemstone

it leaked a bit of g/box oil perviosuly but ran fine and gear changes were as smooth as anything, no crunches or wining noise,
no marks on the flywheel or cluthch plate, nothing!

what the hell is it an why it happend
someone said it my the diff or something inside the gearbox

ye your looking at the gash mark
any ideas?

is it a hole in the case because that is the same if it is as what my car had when i bought it and if u turn the spline shaft with your hand u will notice a pin and evry time it comes to the top it flys out and hits the inner side of the gear box have a look u will see what i mean ....

Well its around the diff area, maybe the crown wheel has rubbed through the alloy.

Time to pull it apart and check what went wrong, the alloy casing can be welded.
