I hope im near getting the gti on the road. (hope)! An i gonna need an mot. BUT i have no cat and i have race cams soo i dont think that it will pass. gonna need to change em or find somewhere to do a "nice" emissions test. i dono if i should put it back to standard or find a "nice" mot station? i dono the legality behind the emissions test.

any info or parts offered would be fantastic thanks.

What year car is it.
It will need a CAT in order to pass the test if the car is of the age where one is required. it could be tuned..if its tuneable...to meet emmissions with the cams but it still wont work without a CAT.
Finding afriendly MOT station is your best bet but they can get into a lot of trouble if they falsify a test and get caught.

any aftermarket exhaust that is louder than the standard exhaust (db) is illegal now.

I was gonna change mine anyany it's pretty much a straight thro except the rear box tht is about the size of a small toaster. But was hoping tht could wait but I guess not :/. Might get a standard one.

yh i got janspeed quite quiet, if u get stopped and have ur exhaust tested ask the copper to look in his book to find a db reading for a standard gti, bet he wouldnt have 1 lol

therefore they cant prove its louder Very Happy

Ive got a full exhaust inc cat for a mk2 phase 1 you can have for cheap. Backbox is a bit rusty but no holes. Doesnt have a hole for the lambda sensor as mk2 ph1 didnt need a lambda.
