Re: Wiring Help
Okay guys I seem to have figured it out a little bit for right now. The round white coupler is for the monitor coupler that is in the engine bay near the bulk head. This is what I could make out from the diagram.
What is a PSP switch??
It isn't as difficult as it seems to be.

Re: Wiring Help
Okay well I was wrong in the above post. As rightly mentioned by others it is the coupler that goes into the chassis harness. But now the problem is that the mark 2 ph2 wiring that I am buying has got square couplers and the number of wires and the colours are different. Which means a lot of time to sort this out. So I have requested steve who had sold me the wiring if could take this one back and he send me the Ph2 wiring so that it saves me a lot of time and trouble.
What do you guys think ?

Hi,
I thought ECU and wring harness were mk3.
You bought it from Steve so you sort it out with him will be the best option.
It works like ebay feed back system with paypal!
Cheers

Re: Wiring Help
Guys,
I had a question, does the GTi engine have a "knock sensor" or is the cultus engines only that have "knock sensor's" ?
Thanks

Re: Wiring Help
Hi guys,
Well I have got a few more bits in hand today. I got the PSV valve, the cam belt covers, the air flow meter. Well now the wiring is what is playing hell with me.
Another thing I wanted to know from you guys is, what is a noise suppressor and how does it work? What is its use?
Also in my wiring harness I didn't find a connection for the PSV valve. I wonder did the mark 2 ph 1 cars come with them?
I only wish someone would help me with the wiring and make life a lot easier.

Re: Wiring Help
A noise suppressor is a device which filters electrical waves, impulses fields, 'noise' such that other more sensitive electrical components do not 'see' them and can operate effectively. Commonly used on Audio devices to hide ignition 'noise' from the stereo, removing that whining from the speakers. Some ignition modules and ECU's need or want them too.

Re: Wiring Help
So do I need to get a noise suppressor as well? Or can I run the car with it?

Re: Wiring Help
Hi,
The green square flat connector in your photo connects the engine loom into the dash loom
The engine loom connects to the fuse box in the engine bay with the big square grey connector.
When I did my GS to GTi conversion I had to change the dash/chassis loom (all behind the dash, clocks, front lights etc) because the engine would turn over but it wouldn't spark...... Basically the wires in the big square grey plug do not match up between the GS chassis loom and GTi engine loom.
Also, for the oil pressure switch this is on the GTi chassis loom not the engine loom so this will be another problem.
You will also find that the GTi coil pack uses a different connector with more wires than the normal GS or Alto one.
Cheers
