Domagoj's Black GTi
Hi!
Here I will introduce my little Suzuki, which is turbo'd.
Car is '91 ,20 year old grandpa, but still can show youngsters how agile he is!
Turbo kit is completely custom, made by ingenious guy,who lives few hours from my place.
Exhaust manifold made by that guy,all the piping, electric, connection, welding, and to be
honest,he did a great job.
Car is running now at around 9 psi of boost with help of KKK K16 turbo charger, one which u
can find either on Calibra Turbo,or some Porsche models.
I never dyno'd it,but I guess its pushing at least 150-170bhp,since I'm bit (2-3 lenght of a car)
slower than Vauxhall OPC 240bhp.
Engine is completelly stock with enormous compression, which I look to lower it down, because every
once on a while i have this head gasket problem(it blows up) so,guys here are some pics. Enjoy.

Now I will put some original 14" alu. rims instead 15" ones from the pictures, since my gearbox is GS one,i
prefer 14" over 15" ,so that long gear ration with small and light weight rims would be a winner combination.
I will post pictures once it's all set up.

You have good eye mate! Correct, these are winter tire M+S,and I intend to change it soon.
Anyways here at my place temp. even at winter time never get below -5 °C (23F),so really
no need for winter tire here, you barely need any antifreeze

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
I have this head gasket problem.
I'm searching for part number of that genuine Suzuki MLS gasket, but i run into some
pic and part number, but it's not valid,at least not in my country. Well than I searched for Vitara gasket,
but same story, guy from service told me,we have 32 different Suzuki Vitara 1.6 gasket, which one do you need? And
I didn't know what to tell him! So what Vitara gasket are u using guys? What part number? THanks!
Can you guys tell me what could be the cause of head gasket failure? Wrong F/A ratio? Detonation? Temperature?
here are some pics. see for yourself

I am asking for vitara gasket, because there are so many of them out there,so how to choose correct one?
And regarding MLS,i tried in suzuki service, they said they never ever had any metal gasket for Swift 1.3 GTi!?

Is the gasket in the pic suzuki or cheap aftermarket?
When my cheapo ebay gasket went it was the same, it just fell apart at the water jacket

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
The MLS gasket was only available to the Japanese market for a High end Super Carry, a dealer should be able to order one.

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
Guys... Here's the deal.
I contacted Suzuki Croatia, which contacted Suzuki Germany and Suzuki Hungary, and they don't have that item.
This part number 11141-61J00 is useless here in europe I think, since it's a JDM part number.
Anyway here is the update on this gasket matter.
I sent my old gasket along with my cheap brand new one,to this company which will make me new custom head gasket.
Now,the gasket will be 2mm thick, and diameter of the rings will be 75mm. Rings will be made from inox, and
gasket will be double reinforced, meaning 2 layers of metal,3 layers of klinger. Next friday I should have this
gasket, when I do I will post picture, and I forgot to mention the price- price is 110$.

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
for gods sake!! you have a standard ecu and a fuel pressure regulator the problem is not your gasket ! standard one is fine vitara gasket is only needed for bigger pistons and the cometic metal ones game on the g13bb in the jimny ive told you what you need to do

Yes I know Steve. I have standard ecu,but fuel regulator is not stock,so I should have bit more fuel I hope.
To solve this matter I found a guy who can lend me wide band lambda sensor, and egt sensor, than it will show
if I'm running on lean or rich mixture under boost.

Even if you have an aftermarket regulator, the ECU still needs to tell the injectors to squirt more.

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
Its the NA ignition curve that you need to sort out.

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
You mean I need that chip?
I have 3 degrees retarded ignition, could that be cause of the problem?

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
The problem with an NA chip is you have to retard the base ignition timing so there is no pinging whilst on boost. Meaning that your bottem end power curve will suffer.
If your blowing head gaskets and don't want to to upgrade you ECU to either an aftermarket EMS or Turbo Eprom... then you will need to take more timing out (retarding the dizzy base timing to bring your over all timing down). Or reduce boost level or get a thicker 2.2mm head gasket (custom from DMWdave).
Also to make decent power your base fuel rail pressure will need to be higher with your FPR, meaning your fuel curve down low will be to rich.

i think the problem is your oil cap its from a honda and doesent have the suzuki oil sensor inside wich will have negative effects on the fueling

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
lol steve, you noticed I don't mind that oil cap really.
Garndi I don't have any stalling problem or knocking or detonation under boost. Everything is working just perfectly.
So if you are saying that,I will retard ignition more, until i get decent chip or afr. How much should I retard ignition mate?
Another 2 deg.,so in final should be 5 degrees retarded,is that ok?

Re: Domagoj's Black GTi
Can't be to perfect as you have blown a head gasket lol.
I would at least go another 2d but it depends on lots of factors... fuel, air temps, boost level, spark plugs (Try NGK BP7ES), Turbo setup....etc
What you need is an ignition curve and fuel curve to suit Turbo, your car will be 10 times nicer to drive.
Save you cash and get one there are plenty of options.
Adaptronic do a plug and play Aftermarket EMS for the Swift GTi.

Ok garndi,i will retard ignition more. Btw. I hope my 2mm gasket will help to reduce
compression degree a bit. I found that Adaptronic, but it's just not worth it,at least
not for now,not for this setup,it's pro stuff, and I'm far behind,i just need that turbo
chip and I'll be just fine! javascript:emoticonp('')
