Post  hobo 27/01/11, 05:01 pm

right basically had enough of not driving my car now funds are somewhat limited, i've got some turbo bits but would rather save up and get decent gear rather than trying to make a monster on a tight budget from what i've read you can turbo them fine on stock internals but what is safe boost for standard? and is it advisable to change your head gasket to one of striders or a cooper one? thanks in advance

a cooper one ? on a turbo chip 10 psi is fine add a aftermarket ecu and you can go up to around 14 16 psi stock motor for low boost dont worrey about the headgasket stock is fine

garndi ran 16 psi stock internals t28
harry (gold swift ) runs more than that with a spacer gasket and full managment
gavin (white swift thor racing one ) lives near me he runs 12 psi just on a safc
i run 10 and soon as i get a safc 2 will turn it up to 14 no worries

so theres your proof dunno about there milages however and theres heaps of people on redline who run similat and more boost

So to run this you need? :

Turbo Manifold
Turbo (TD04?)
Piping
SR20 Throttle Body
Decent Air Filter
Chip
Bigger Injectors?????
Modified Fuel Rail

Is that it to run at 10psi boost on stock? What sort of power will this produce? Is the stock clutch fine??

u wont need sr20 throttle body. bigger injectors or modded fuel rail(unless u want more power) if u have modded fuel rail ull need afpr obviously.
turbo doesnt have to be td04 its just prefered by some people. but depends on what the maifold is made for.

also u forgot intercooler.
oil/water lines
bov
the exhaust will need to be changed obviously, 2.5 inch
chip will be on its limit at 10psi i believe

Cool!

What sort of power will that be pushing?

So the standard throttle body and fuel rail would be fine??

If your running one of my chips...

Turbo chips limit is 185HP @ flywheel, after that it will run out of fuel (unless you run an AFC).

Its setup for standard everything.... no need to upgrade parts like injectors or TB...etc

As for what turbo to use.... Best buy for your 'money' is the TD04L WRX Turbo.

They cost between £50-£100 (there everywhere) and are very well suited @ 10psi with a Turbo chipped ecu/standard engine.

If you want to upgrade later on, the TD04L can run 26psi / 220BHP on the G13b (With the right engine and ECU).

A GT25BB is also a good choice as would a lot of other Turbos.

Been looking into doing this to my swift to, I have a td05 sat at work will this work ok ? other than that all i need is a turbo chip ?? and obviously (sp) piping, intercooler, bov, modded exhaust.

For the exhaust do i only need to enlarge the downpipe or will i need to run a 2 and half inch exhaust the whole way ? (i rather like the note off my janspeed system Laughing )
