What ECU will you be running?
I will be interested to know as I have Andy(Garndi)'s chip for std ECU.
I have to get hold of std ECU and wiring first, mind!
Cheers

i will be using standard ecu with garndis chip, but i might run it in first without the chip.
i think i have an ecu and engine wiring loom if ur interested?

bearings were off ebay usa £25.42 + £27.27(postage) then had to pay import tax of about £20 so didnt work out cheap afterall lol

Re: Engine Rebuild (update march)
Steve,
They are 16v pistons. You will see 4 valve cut out.
I'm not sure if they are less volume type, mind.
Andy told me that if you are using his chip, use std injections and everything.
I think running in will be the big issue, here. Then again, aguy I know who races bikes and cars told me that he just use it as it is after running engine for 3500rpm for 10 mins.
As modern machining is much better than what used to be. Only reason for running in these days are for piston rings to suitably wear to said machined surface. He will be running very high boost with charge and petrol cooler. He is using engine I got machined by Andy!
Cheers

Re: Engine Rebuild (update march)
you dont want to take it easy running an engine in, by the same token you shouldnt wring its neck. varied load is what you want. The aim is to bed the rings intot he bores by placing them under load and forcing them into the bore walls. the Rings and lands are shaped such that when ignition occurs the pressure in the chamber forces the ring against the bore, the better the ring seals the better the engine will behave and longer it will last (rings wise) I believe you want to idle as little as possible early on for fear of glazing the bore, drive around the streets up to 3-3.5k accelerating and slowing down for an hour then slowly build the distance and revs over the next 100-200 miles.
Dont wring its neck to start.
Good luck

Re: Engine Rebuild (update march)
start car change oil
drive 1 mile change oil
then drive around first 20 odd miles not harsh but firm like a woman lol you want to bed the rings in as stated above to avoid glazing you can get the bores machined so that you dont need to run in your rings but its alot of money i forget what the proscess is called. then take it easy for 600-1000 miles no constant rpm lots of hills etc city driving is the best no motorways

Re: Engine Rebuild (update march)
my engine tuners said something similar when i had my leak and comp test done
all they do is drive it for a 100 or so in low gears, lots of hills, basicly putting load on the engine change the oil etc then spin it up as if you woz raggin it
"if its gona go bang, it`l be then" was they`r words, "no point driving gingerly for 1000`s of miles only for the 1st time you give it some it go`s pop"
i can sorta see where they are coming from
