I originally bought this around 2014 I believe just local to my house. It was sat for about 6 years as a old lady owned it but become too unwell to drive it anymore. while it was parked a van hit the door and quarter panel meaning they needed to be repaired.

I bought it with the intensions of breaking it but once i saw how clean it was I couldn't bring myself to scrap it. with one original owner and 55k miles it seemed like a waste. it also ran perfectly

Back in these times I had a spray booth in my unit so it made sense to use it.

Alot of parts were then arriving including new suspension bushes etc. I also added swift sport front calipers as its a easy bolt on mod and made getting pads easier with more options.

Attention then turned to the engine bay and and making a few parts to build it up. I did plan to boost it but the final incarnation will probably go back to a stock G13B layout and sell the catch can on and intake etc. I have other cars that are better at going fast now so i think the gti will do fine as a stock ish retro ride. one day perhaps it will get a M16 set up for the benifits of a stronger gearbox and 6 speed options

The engine also received all new genuine timing belt and water pump kit. new dizzy and arm new fluids new clutch  etc.

I was amazed with how clean the engine was inside.

Hi Steve.

Build is looking good. Havent been on here for years! Glad its still going and good to see some familiar names from the pasts still around.

Where did you get the rear window rubber/weatherstips upper and lower? Mine have perished and will need replacing.

Thanks mate.

They were 90 quid each for the lower trims the rear window ones I actually had already. There the same. For the regular swift so they are only upto 19 years old lol
