Re: Our new project
It has loads done to it, front & rear LSD, mechanical Cusco viscous which appears to be controlled electronically. Inlet runners are twice the size of the standard ones, the cams are seriously high lift, they appear to be about 9mm higher. Spark plugs are 6mm longer, fuel rail twice the size of standard. Close ratio gearbox, Ohlins suspension, loads of subtle differences to standard, the myth says they are 180BHP NA, I did not believe this could be possible but looking at all the changes maybe it is true. Fitted new fuel pump, cleared the fuel lines out & it started up, my god is it loud but sounds awesome

Re: Our new project
Jerry,
You forgot to tell everyone that it is a Suzuki Sports Works rally car.
I thought you were going to call me when you start the engine!
So it is loud then !
It did look like a standard inlet when I saw it in the auction....
Oh well, at least we know it works. Do you think it has 180PS?
It should have a close ratio gearbox and 3 LSDs. I'm sure it will be fun!
Cheers

Re: Our new project
Took the Cultus to the Dyno today, it made 130BHP on standard pump fuel, it needs race fuel, a damn good service & a better fuel pump. Now we will take the car apart & see what we can find:)

It is seriously loud Atchi, I think it could make quite a bit more with a full service, race fuel & a decent pump

Re: Our new project
What makes you think it will make more power with race fuel ?
Did it knock or pink ?
Do you know the compresion ratio ?

It was pinking / knocking above 7,000 R.P.M, to be honest I could not hear anything, it is so loud. Geoff the guy that did the power runs said that is what was needed. Have no idea what the compression ratio is at the moment, Jimbo is busy stripping the car. Hopefully he will get the engine out tomorrow & we can have a good play with it over the next few days

Re: Our new project
The runners are twice the diameter, at first glance the inlet manifold looks standard, but when you take a standard one & compare it they are totally different. Nothing from the original car will be sold, it will be rebuilt over the next year & hopefully Jimbo will be racing it in 2012.
Atchi found the car for me on one of the Japanese auction sites, it helps to have a friend that speaks the language
We will be copying some of the unique bits on it & selling these at a later date

Not sure yet, but thinking about sump guard, head, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, cams, ecu, centre diff maybe, we will see when we get it all out. I need to recover some money on it, it cost a lot of money to get it here

Re: Our new project
What was the total cost.... come on be honest!
And you could get some money back from that mid rear spoiler!
