Hello mates,

I have a list of gear ratios of all swift versions...

Are the gearing interchangeable between the models? i.e. 4th gear gearing of 1.3 GS on a GTi box? and final drives?

and in the awd boxes? (saloon/justy/...)

Thanks mates!

pd. if anyone want the list tell me..

All Swifts use the same 1st and 2nd gear ratios. GTi's have close ratio 3rd, 4th and 5th which is specific to them and not shared by any other Swift. GTi's also use a lower final drive (4.1)
AWD ratios are completely different.

i use the awd box and the ratios are pretty much the same as the gti box. The gs box is rubbish, 4th gear is like 5th on the gti box

Justy AWD gearboxes have a different final drive to a Cultus GT-i 4WD

what about 1.0 gearbox ? do they have a smaller final drive so you can put it in the gti box for closer ratios?

Hi,

It will be a lot of hard work to do this boys.
You will need to pull out input shaft and crown wheel as thay are the one makes final ratio.
Gti has 4.1:1, I think 1300 non Gti has 3.78:1(slower acceleration), 1 litre may be 4.4:1(better acceleration) and there is another one 3.528:1 (higher top speed but slower acc.).
Now I'm talking all this with std. wheel sizes.

You will need to take off all of the gears(3-5th) and transfer them onto your input shaft you want.
May as well recondition your gearbox same time and replace all of the bearings while at it.
I think all of the scynchro and gear change folks are inter changeable in Swift gearboxes(apart from mk1).

So getting low milage G10 gearbox for parts and whatever else for input shaft and crown wheel combo.

If I had money, I would asked Dattman in Teamswift/Redline to make me custom inputshaft and crown wheel combo with better 2nd gear ratio! But it was £850 or so by the time I get it in UK.

Good luck.

Hi,

I think it wil be more like selector folks are worn.
As it select, it pushes gears into correct position. As it gets worn, it will not push it in all the way.
If gears are grinding, it will be worn synchros(not sure of spelling).

If you are going for G10 gearbox. It has 4.388:1 final ratio. You will need to get crown wheel(diff) and input shaft.
You will get better acceleration but your top end will be screaming. So if you do long distance driving, not for you.
I think your fuel consumption will suffer, too.

I will recommend any of you to get hold of complete gearbox. As all of synchros are inter changeable to Gti gearbox. You can rebuild your Gti gearset 3rd-5th onto new G10 gear set input shaft.
Make sure you change bearings and so on. Also, check your diff pin. They are only hold in place by spring pins and they can work loose. Gary can tell you that!

Cheers
