i think you get more torque with carbs but its not a very effecient way of running an engine compared to injection. Personally id rather use quad throttlebodies and stand alone ECU, but the carb setup would be a hell of alot cheaper. To run the carb setup i think you need the mk1 gti dizzy so you can ditch the ECU.

Strider can sort you out a flange for a custom inlet

Depends on how nice you want the setup to look, if you don't care and have an understanding of whats required you can do it for f*ck all.... But we all want nice looking shiny bits. Its not always about spending money on expensive parts, although its very easy to want the best bits and spend £££'s.

Some of the best results I have seen have been from low budget setups (i.e Turbo Chip) done for a laugh and you would look at them and laugh.... using parts taken from random Jap imports.

I have seen some cracking installs that people have pulled off with very little money, Roger Cordia comes to mind he did a nice Supercharger kit for his car for under £250 Wink

Hi,

I knew a guy("Hamger") who had 40 DCOEs on his car.
I sold him mk1 dizzy which I had a spare at the time. In the end, he didn't fit mk1 dizzy.
He used his car for sprint/track day. One issue he had was "engine check" light on all of the time.
Also, you don't have advanced curve you get with dizzy. But he has told me it went well and he has won many class win with his car, so it must went well.

If you are going to fit carbs off bigger engine, you will need to change jets, tubes, venturis and so on. For you to do this, it will be easier if carbs you got is Nova sports 1300cc ones.
If not, you want to take it to rolling road(£300) for setting up.
Your mate is selling you carbs(£200) without inlet manifold, right!?
You can buy inlet manifold from ebay, a guy in Greece has one for sale (£200).
You will also need low pressure fuel pump(£50-70) with adjustable FPR with filter(£70).
So, cheapest you can do will be £800-850.

I will suggest to go with bike ITBs or Quad carbs.
I'm making few different setup at the moment. So if you want some idea, let me know.

I think Turboing your engine will be cheaper.
Garndi's chip
TD04 turbo (£20-100) off ebay
Ex Manifold (£100-300)
Few other pipe works (£200-400)

I would suggest that while Andy(Garndi) is here, get as much info out of him as possible.
He is the one with know how from his own car in Oz as well as his Justy AWD turbo.

Exhaust manifold wise, I can make all of the flanges for you in 10mm steel for flanges(head and turbo) and 8mm stainless steel for the down pipe. I think it will cost you about £100 including p+p.
All you need to do is buy pipes from link below.

http://www.pipesupply.co.uk/epages/es113396.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es113396_shop/Categories/%22Industrial%20Pipe%20%26%20Fittings%22/%22Welded%20Pipe%20%26%20Fittings%22/%22BS1640%20Standard%20Weight%22

You will need 2x t-pieces and 2x 90 degree bends and flange kit I made.
See pic below with my TD04 turbo!
inlet mani IMG00161

If you can weld OK I think this will be the cheapest way to make manifold!

Cheers

Hi Gary,

I just got back from holiday and Nissan has factory shut down for another week.
Once everything is good, I will take it to their engine department for them to check it over for you.

Hi,

OK, you have an exhaust flange then you have weld in 90 deagrees and t-pieces.
This is the one I have welded up ready for me to finish welding to make complete manifold.
inlet mani Picture

Then you will need inlet into TD04 turbo which is a triangle flange on top of the turbo. It needs to be welded in one you know where and what angle you want to mount it.Then, you have a stainless steel plate with 2 difrerent size holes which is for the down pipe to weld onto.

This is called log sytle manifold and it is simple but effective.
It may not be pretty but it will do same job as some of cast unit. You can't use thin thickness pipes as it will crack very quickly.

I hope you understand bit better.

Cheers

these are about £200 + shipping
not bad price and i emailed them awhile ago and they said they wud sell 10 for $220 each, about £150 (i think, cant find old email)
dont no if there any good it just seems cheap compared to what others are asking, and saves making your own.

Hi,

Those one on ebay is from my CAD data.
I sent them my data as they were making Turbo charged G13B in their Mini.
They are making a super charged G13B with Eaton off a New Mini Cooper S.
You will still need to buy flange for TD04 inlet as well as exhaust flange for exit from your turbo. Well if it is for TD04, I can supply them in 10mm steel for inlet for turbo and 8mm Stainless steel for the ehaust exit flange.

Hi,

If you need all 3 flanges, you can have them for £80 including postage.

Let me know what you think, so that I can start getting made.
It takes 1 week...
