MK2 Phase 1 and Phase 2

Hi, i have recently bought a GTI shell and engine, the engine was not in the car, and did not come out of that shell, so what i was wondering is, if the engine is out of the Mk1 Phase 1 is that engine any different to the Phase 2 engine, is there any way of telling by engine numbers or anything on the engine its self.

Im needing to purchase an induction kit and there seems to be different ones for the swifts from 91 to 92 and then 92 onwards (i think).

Any advice will be much appreciated and if anyone nows of a cheap place to get them. Think i would prefer the KN 57i kit.

the ph1 and ph 2 are the same car and the same engine, whatever engine you have will work fine.

Engine wise, the only difference is the ECU and the cat and it doesnt matter what ecu you use

ahh brilliant thanks, i thought that may be the case but was wasnt too sure. So the only difference i should worry about with regards to buying parts would be whether it is for a mk1 or mk2? What year did the mk2 come in?

89-96 ph2 about 92
the same type of chassis was used up until 2005 but mostly 1.3 8v and 3cyl
