Engine change Empty Engine change

Hey im new here and was after some advice

I have a 1.0ltr GLS and i am going to put a 1.3 gti engine in it

I know i need a wiring loom also but i just wondered what else is needed and not compatible from my old engine

Hey Alex,
have you already got the engine? Are you planning on using full GTi running gear? i.e gearbox, brakes etc? You can also convert the rear drums to discs which I think steve has explained somewhere on this site? I would suggest that you get a donor car so you have everything you need saves a lot hassle and confusion + you will have documents for the engine etc. Its fairly straight forwards and im sure there are people on here that can tell you exactly wots needed for the conversion!

due to low funds I am looking to buy bit by bit I just was wondering what was compatible from my old engine so it can run still during the upgrade

mate iv been there done that. and i have converted the gsi to a gti. your best bet as sam sed is to have a doner car and change it over bit by bit. buying it bit by bit is the hard way of doing it. as i found out i never took the chassy lome from a phase 2 car. and i waited like 4months to find a lome. so i reckon you should take dona as the way forword...
