Hi,

This is my mk1 Gti Turbo AWD build.

In other post I have said I fall in love with mk1 gti.
So this is the cause, I bought for £500 in 2002.

I bought it because my Honda mk2 CRX Vt will put me in an early grave, I though I need a sensible car lol! .
Unfortunately, this car was scrapped due to a company car and luck of space and my mated wanted it for a Mini conversion.
But I missed my mk1 Gti.
Then came this white mk1 Gti in 2013, thank to my good friend Jerry.

It was a spare/parts car for a rally driver and he thought it was too good to dismantle so he took engine and gearbox out and sold it.
This is his rally car hence yellow bonnet!

Jerry went and pick it up and as a joke I asked him to convert it to AWD while he is at it.
So he did.
He converted to AWD and welded in a roll cage but it was left at seaside workshop for 2 years outside.
After many years of wait, my friend says that he cannot finish and I need to take it away.
The result....

So this is 2018. Andy aka Garndi helped me to get back on to it.
She got TLC and now rust free shell. So I sent it away to get 8 points roll cage fitted and while there, I got rear suspension modified and strengthened.

Meanwhile my shell is getting sorted, I was busy building a High Power engine.

I used to be a CAD engineer(may not be that good one) so I have few contects.
I created a CAD date for block gurads and block and billet ali were machined using same date and same milling machine.

I knew I wanted to build an engine with over 280+Bhp.
So I will need a set of fordged con-rods, steel liners, oil squirts, block grouting, engine bottom brace etc, etc.

I have knife edged crank shaft, also.

To run this much power, I have been advised to run a twin plate clutch.

I have lighten flywheel as well.

My rear spoiler is rusted away and spoiling my car, so I fitted a BMW Mini JCWorks race cup spoiler fitted.

So, my car's spec as follow:-
Justy AWD drive train with Torsen diffs front and back.
Welded VC
After Market ECU(ECU Master Classic or Maxx ECU) undecided.
Injector Dynamics 725cc injectors
Port&Polished cylinder head
76mm Vitata pistons
Fordged conrods
knife endged cranks
Tilton twin plate clutch
Sidewinder turbo manifold running GT28 may be GT25R...not sure
K-Sports front coil overs with Ohlin rear shocks(for the moment) rear coil over in the future
Suzuki Swift Sport front calipers.

I think I wrote too much for people to lose interest now!

Cheers
Atchi

Hi Steve,

If I connect battery, it will start and drive but not as AWD as yet. I need to cut prop shaft 20mm shorter to fit mk1.
The engine is a std NA at the moment. My car is in my south office compaund Banbury and i'm in Durham!
Turbo engine is ready to fit and needs to pick up my port and polished head from my other enigne builder who has a mk2 Cortina with 1700bhp road legal drug racer!
Due to Covid, I can pick it up or go to my office to work on Rolling Eyes .
I'm hoping that I can have it on the road next year or 2!

I have finshed making a sidewinder turbo manifold so my ramhorn turbo manifold will be sold...
Anyway, I'm building/making what I can away from the car.
Also, I'm making classic mini with G10 engine for my girls while I'm down south too. So 3 projects on the go.

Cheers
Atchi
