just got a t4 garrett supercharger for £150
Got a bargain today full kit from a swift gti but its old. On the pipe from the charger to the inlet theres a separat injector and a little ecu box. This look like this is a very old way of getting more petrol in. Is there a better way of doining the fueling like an ecu remap with bigger injectors. What cr do i need to run i dont know much about this so any help would be good in the kit there is
1 belt
1 bottum pully
1 engine mount for the charger
1 supercharger
1 oil feed pipe
1 sump pan
1 oil return pipe
1 intercoller
All the pipeing
2 blow off vavles for some resion
1 injector bolted to the inlet pipe
1 pressure gauge
1 pressure sensore bolted to inlet pipe with 2 spad conectors
1 ecu box
1 loom going from ecu to the 1 injector and pressure senore

Re: just got a t4 garrett supercharger for £150
Hi,
Is this some kind of odd ball conversion?
I never heard of a Garret T4 Supercharger. Garret T4 is a big turbo charger and may be running using pulleys to turn.
I don't think it will turn correct speed as they are turning upto 140krpm....iirc.
Cheapest way of bigger power.
I think modern way is to run bigger injectors like 440cc with a bigger fuel pump and a standalone ECU(Megasquirt).
Sometimes it will run with knock sensor, MAP, TPS, Lamda(O2) sensor and so on.
more expensive way.
Motec, Adaptronics, Emerald ECU.
Injector Dynamics 750cc injectors.
I only started to learn charged engine myself. I think I will take proven way so I can ask many expert in the field.
Cheers

i think you are getting abit confused between turbochargers and superchargers.
u dont need an intercooler for a supercharger as its not using exhaust gases, its run by a belt connected to the crank pulley.
a supercharger bolts to the intake, turbo to the exhaust.
im guessing its a turbo kit as garrett don't make superchargers as far as i know.
get some pics up

You can run a inter cooler on a supercharged system but it's not Vital that it be there.
BMW Mini Cooper S run intercoolers on there supercharge engines

Re: just got a t4 garrett supercharger for £150
I see, it is a supercharger.
I would suggest to use more modern ECU to run it.
Change your MAF to MAP.
Bigger capacity fuel pump.
You will need bigger injectors(Supra 440cc or Evo 540/60cc)... I have them both.
Mega Squirt.
Intercooler is good but not sure you will need big size as you have.
I think you will find it it will make it as you have 1800/2000cc engine feels to it once you finished.
Cheers

Re: just got a t4 garrett supercharger for £150
I think you need to find out what psi you are going to run with this setup.
I know 7-8psi will be what you can do with standard 10:1 ratio and get 180 to 200Bhp.
If you fit 75mm Vitara pistons, you will get 7.2:1 or so CR which is too low. If you machine 1mm off the block which will help to bring back up to 8:1.
Don't underestimate Vitara pistons... even with USA eBay specials will take up to 600+bhp in Honda D16 setup.
I know a guy with 308Bhp with 7.2:1 CR. Also a guy with 9.2:1 running 370Bhp both of them with G13B engine.
I will be happy with 250 to 300 when I build mine!
Cheers

Re: just got a t4 garrett supercharger for £150
From your photos, you can work out ratios.
Your engine rpm 1 and your pulley will be smaller check size to work out ratios,
Supercharger has a bigger wheel on drive from your pulley to increase speed again. You should be able to get T4 compressor info to work out what rpm charger will be running at.
From this info, you should be able to see what psi it will be running at given rpm of your engine.
You will need 16v pistons if you are to run DOHC 1.3 16v head on. If you are running 8v Justy head, you will need 1.6 8v SOHC engine pistons.
cheers
