Nick,
Im on my second build as re shell from my 1989 gti was wanked all round, I just bought a swift gl year 2000 w reg for 800 quid and is in good condition I had some welding but not a lot there is minor changes in the shells from 1989 to 2001 better than spending hours welding up an old gti I had to weld on rear anti roll bar brackets that's it you still can get these from zuki thoug...
cheers

Cheers mike,
did the engine mounts all line up okay? Was the welding you done for the conversion to gti or was it just repairs? Chers Nick.

Yeh engine went strait in,the welding was just minor repairs mate only thing to mind is that the dashboard maybe different does yours have the half moon around the clocks or is the square type as these don't fit,i used swift 1992-93 dash board and loom and all fitted ok even plug strait into f5 ecu ...

Also is a 3 cylinder swift okay to use for a re-shell, are the mounts still in the right place?

1.0 mounts are slightly different but the 1.3 ones are exactly the same positions easier using the 1.3 i remember reading on redline a while ago the 1.0 has the mounting points but they are hidden

Re: swift re-shell
So am I right in thinking that the mounting holes are there on the 1.0 chassis but there hidden behind a metal skin?
