strong smell of petrol?

where should i check first?
guy i bought it off told me i need new ht leads but pretty sure thats not why it stinks of petrol

new to the swift and theres quite alot of things rattling lol is this a typical trait?c

checked the fuel lines?
wet marks on the tank?
ect.

swifts arent quiet cars lol
rattlings abit vague tbh, whats rattling?
the rear springs always jump around on their seats, if thats one of the noises

when a car is 20 odd years old nothing is unheard of as ross said check everything fuel related unless you have a exhuast leak etc...

im going to check the fuel rail and the lines this weekend there is a small blowout in the middle section of the exhaust so could be either.any ideas where i can get a full exhaust system for a decent price?

im used to the metro gti's and vvcs and they were much much worse than the ssgti

depends on what you consider a decent price i work at solid-fabrications hence the forum add^ could do a "2 system for £400 we are not powerflow or pipeworx its high end high quality parts

Looks like there's a leak in my petrol tank anyone know where I can get a new or second hand tank in the uk?

found one for less than 80quid new but its in america

well anyway i got a new tank from a gls no more petrol smell but now the fuel gauge isnt working and when going through the gears when i put my foot down the car kinda pauses before anything happens

anyone any exp with this issue?im thinking its either the plugs/plug leads or maybe dirty injectors

did you put the gti pump in ? gls pump is not upto the job..

yea im using the gti pump still

must be something you have worked on id change to a new walbro pump a new filter etc to be sure and then look into other causes

hopefully get the pump out again tomorrow after work and have a look funny feeling could be wires on that after tank kinda fella a tad
she has started letting out the odd backfire and cut out once

both parts available on ebay walbro 255 in tank will fit make sure its a genuine walbro do a quick google sarch but i buy them from tourqes on ebay they are good
