G13B Turbo in a mini
Hi all,
I am looking to purchase a G13B swift gti engine tomorrow with bike carbs.
I am going to running this in my mini clubman estate. I will be running the car at the moment on NA power with honda blackbird carbs, does anyone know what sort of power I will be able to get with this set up?
Eventually I will be turbo'ing the car with GT25 turbo and vitara pistons, so I can run big boost.
But I just wanted to find out can I run the turbo set up on the bike carbs or do I need to revert back to the injection set up?
Cheers
Bobby

Re: G13B Turbo in a mini
Hi bobby,
You are here also!?
G13B with bike carbs will be somewhere around 110ps max.
If you get hold of mk1 Gti dizzy and MG Metro turbo carbs, you can do it.
I think I will use injections for a turbo.
Cheers

Hi Atchi,
Yeah I am on here as well, lol. Thanks for the advise as well.
I actually have a spare metro turbo carb and plenum, so maybe give this a try? but will need to find a mk1 gti dizzy.
Worst case scenario, I can also just use the standard inlet mani?
Also Atchi did you manage to get me a cost for the frame via courier, the I will get the cash out to you?
Cheers

Re: G13B Turbo in a mini
Hi Bobby,
I will need to find out the weight of it and the size of box or on a pallet.
I will let you know during next week. I might modify subframe a little for you tomorrow.
Cheers

Re: G13B Turbo in a mini
Excellent pics added now, so basically got the pics of the engine when I bought it, then pics of the car which the heart will be going into and some pics of the start of the strip down process.
What do you guys and girls think?
All opinions taken on board.
Cheers

Re: G13B Turbo in a mini
the stock engine with injection a good exhaust itake group a chip and reground piper cams will run perfect see around115bhp flywheel and be reliable as anything with no tuning issues and you can always bolt on a turbo to the stock motor with a chip

Re: G13B Turbo in a mini
Hi Stevegti,
Thanks a lot for the advise, inregards to a chip, which one is best to use and where is the best place to buy piper cams?
I will probably run a T25 turbo on the stock internals for now or maybe no turbo and run it on bike carbs, as I have a set of Honda BlackBird Carbs, but need a manifold made up?
Then eventually run the bigger Vitara pistons, bigger turbo and bigger injectors from a Supra or Evo (maybe) to run a lot more power?
Not sure if you do know, what sort of mods can I do to the gearbox to cope with the extra power or is the stock internals in the gearbox sufficient for upto 200bhp?
Cheers
