the new project :) rwd reliant kitten with gti engine

here is my new project its an 1980's reliant kitten has full fibreglass shell and great little chassie this is the car as i got it


and ive taken off the arches and the gti front bumper and today i took off the shell to see what the chassie looks like







its got swift gti engine with sj413 gearbox mx5 front hubs with mx5 rear diff and break setup on the back need to get a mx5 prop and get it joined to my sj prop i have. there is loads i wanna do to this but in time my ideas may change so far ive got my n/a engine with throttle bodies from my old gti with microtech mt4 management and mallory hyfire 6al digital ignigtion but as its rwd its silly not to turbo it dunno just yet but we will see how things plan out

Ian went n got a mini and will be doin that and i think the fibreglass work was too much for his hands. im gonna be pulling my finger out nd getting some serious time working onit just waiting to see when the cash comes in from the parts im selling to start getting parts for this :-)

them welds do not look safe wishbone mounts look awfully thin ......will be intresting if you finish it lol

Good to see this project again.
I almost forgot about this project until you told me about it!
It will be a MAD motor, I tell. Even in N/A format, you will have nearly 700kg body with 105 Bhp that is 150BHP/ton.
That's AWSOME!

Get yourself a LSD and turbo with Andy's chip. You will be killing Type-Rs, Scubby Imp and Evos.
You have to let me have a drive when you finish it. I promise I won't total it!

I hope you can have a go in my toy by then!

U got a deal atchi ;-) n 3 of us picked the shell up the other day and together we picked up the chassie with the engine in lol so it will proberly be even lighter than 700 im just trying to arrange another shell as il never get the current one decent again, im thinkibg of goin mini clubman flip front with a wide arch kit from my mate who sells custom fibreglass products :-) im lookin forward to driving it

Ive had a proper result!! Got my discs pads calipers and hand brake cables along with my propshaft yesterday and with the deal i got a really nice 1600 mx5 manifold which im gonna get dominator to sort out for me and a rear diff. the guy didnt no what he was selling n i was just happy to have a spare diff but after some looking around on the net it turns out i got a LSD :p fucking happy!!!!!

Your rear brake setup won't take 13".
I bought myself 14" VW snowflakes alloys... I only got 3 of them atm.

I'm thinking of fitting 165/55-14 front and 185/55-14 at the rear. It may look hot rod but my car is Mini Midas kit car.

Yer it will the 1.6 mk1 fits 13's all round my mate had weller steels on his. N dont worrie about hotrod look if you like that take a drive up my way sunday there is a good show on ;-)

work can now properly begin!! just hafto clear my garden and get the car in there and off i go

little update with some piks
ive put my new discs pads and calipers on all round and cut the holes ready for the rear sus and the chassie on the new shell

and gary (Dominator) has been busy aswell he has cut, extended and welded my inlet manifold so it sits 90degrees now for the throttle bodies as its pretty tight in my engine bay and they look really good peaking through my bonnet. nice1 mate
