IDEA for 2012

Wanted to see wot folks think first...

SUZUKI DAY

Invite all other suzuki clubs in uk and maybe france, holland germany etc

Day at drag strip

inter club comp

Trophies/ comp for best 1/4, best reaction, handling course and show and shine
Best club award too

classes
1000cc and less
1000 - 1300 cc
1300 and above

A full day taking over a strip with as many suzukis as poss, maybe get rally cross and ctc there with few cars and maybe suzuki gb...

i think if we can get a bit of friendly competion going with clubs then we can get more members and get great turn out all events getting suzuki up there with the big boys...

We could make it into an yearly event and make a real day of it....

Only idea at min... but wot do you all think??

Sure they can afford a cheap ticket and a bit of fuel to turn up haha! But its so true!

Don’t know how many miles Germany and Holland are away return trip but I just did 2000 miles around Scotland’s highlands and islands and it cost me 350 pounds in fuel alone.

These events when they work are great, I have been involved in car clubs my entire life and have participated in yearly events again all my life, but the organisation involved and cost is extensive. Its not just a matter of asking everyone to show, its booking the events, helping with accommodation, promotion, insurances, and planning the events to keep people coming back, camping, shows, other entertainment. I would not drive 500 miles to just drag up the strip next to another swift, but if there were trophies, bragging rights, photography, swap meet etc and a mix of events and entertainment that would be worth the weekend away etc. One of the guys in one of the ford groups I’m with has an annual birthday track day/night. costs about 150 each car and normally he needs to chase around for months just to get the deposits and is often left paying upfront and hoping people who promised to show do and pay. so payments etc is another hassle.
I’m not saying don’t do it, please do, but don’t underestimate the pain if it is to become a good annual event. Perhaps a committee is needed to get the ball rolling.

yeah sounds good hope it happens would be good to get some gti's together i've only ever seen 2 others and there stevie's and he lives just up the road

i already run a car show every august with over 1000 vehicles or all shapes and sizes...

I have a good working relationship with a few venues who are willing to take the event on...

Costs would be around £20 to compete or £10 to just show and be part of the day...

We would be looking at handling track, sprint, drag race and show...

i already have a few traders interested in attending, with suzuki demo cars, suzuki gb have shown interest too. all early stages at the min, but if i can get enough interest i will get the ball rolling.

£10 to show :O
money for fuel isnt the issue with distance its reliablity of mine atm :/

all swifts are unreliable

i disagree i think there very reliable never had a failare apart from a clutch and 2 cv joints on 2 cars

i wasnt sayin all swifts are, just my gti atm. the old 1litre i had was unbelievably reliable.

Had my gti 15 years and it hasnt broken down once!
3 Swifts in the family, same story.

I think you either get a good one or Jesse's one.

Mine did over 330000kms and nothing ever broke, wore out or dropped fluids, despite trackdays, australian roads and a young male driver.

OH actualy I did once have to replace a headlight bulb. Damn unreliable suzukis.

well, my mk1 Swift Gti was OK a part from cam belt snap twice!
1st time was my fault as I believed people said yes we have changed it.
2nd time my fault as I didn't fit plastic cover to keep little stone.

Germany and Holland is not far if you are travelling from North East.
I drove to Germany for my business trip to Hanover and I did 1000miles.
I did over night ferry from North shields so it was good.

I did RAF motor club sprint with Mini and they cost about £70 per person. So if you can do with £20, that will be good and it is good fun to meet like minded people.

Do you think I can come to it with my Mini with G13B engine? I promis I will be nice !
Oh, well I have to finish building it first!

actually i tell a lie i had a cambelt snap also my fault but did no damage re fitted belt and was all gravy

tell me about it, i actually had to replace a wiper blade for a mot once

tbh, swift gti, the most reliable car iv ever had, flown through every mot, even when i started messing with the engine, started every time and only a h/gasket went, but this was due to poor quality gasket

Do u realise this was ment to be for 2012

I think we have established that Jesse has the most unreliable swift in the world as nobody else has had major issues ever, we also dont believe Atchi will ever finish the mini swift or swift mini or justyswiftmini or whatever So to the topic at hand. Its a great idea and I for one will be there should it occur while im in the country. Get it happening sir and soon.

Aye, it is always like this.
I have every good intension to finish it but I lose my mojo.
I'm in the stage of wiring and that where I lose big time.

I will get there sometime soon.

Correct me if im wrong but doesnt a car have to be driven to be unreliable

If Swift engine Mini's are welcome, I'd be up for this!
I should be ready mid 2012(famous last words!)

anything suzuki related will be welcome. may add extra class to the event for suzuki engined vehicles such as minis and fiats with hybusa's if there is enough of them...
